Granelli d'Arte

When the landscape becomes an open-air gallery!

There are places where art blends into the landscape. And others where the landscape itself becomes an integral part of the work.
It is from this vision that Granelli d'Arte was born, a project promoted by Bibione Mare SpA in collaboration with Associazione LAGO , which transforms the pine forest overlooking the sea of Bibione Pineda into a permanent path of contemporary art.

Not just an open-air exhibition, but an itinerary designed to establish a constant dialogue between works, nature, and visitors.
Here, the pine forest isn't just a frame: it's a living space, capable of hosting the installations without altering their identity, inviting those who walk the paths to slow down, observe, and reflect.

The project stems from a clear belief: art can become a tool for enhancing the local area and, at the same time, an opportunity to address issues affecting contemporary society.
The works engage with key issues today—climate change, ecosystem protection, sustainability, gender equality, the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence—transforming the journey into an accessible and immersive cultural experience.

A path born over time
Granelli d'Arte represents the natural evolution of the collaboration between Bibione Mare and the LAGO Association, a cultural organization founded on the shores of Lake Barcis in Friuli Venezia Giulia, and active for over twenty years in promoting art, culture, and crafts.
Over the years, the association has developed workshops, exhibitions, installations, and artistic projects involving people of all ages and collaborating with public bodies, administrations, and private entities.
The idea of bringing art into dialogue with the local area found an ideal context in Bibione Pineda.

For nearly a decade, the collaboration with Bibione Mare has resulted in numerous Land Art installations made with locally sourced materials, works created with recycled elements placed at the beach entrances, and artistic interventions designed to become meeting points and places for interaction with the public.
At the same time, creative workshops have been developed for younger children, with the aim of instilling the value of manual skills, creativity, and respect for the environment.
Granelli d'Arte today represents a new chapter in this shared journey.
The project involves the redevelopment of an area of the pine forest through a delicate intervention, capable of preserving its fauna and flora and of inserting contemporary works that dialogue with the site rather than overpower it.

Five works, five reflections on the present
This first edition involved artists from Italy, Ukraine, and the Netherlands, selected for the quality of their research and their ability to interpret the project's themes through different languages.

With Digital Golgotha , Oleksandr "Sasha" Shteyninher offers a powerful reflection on the impact of artificial intelligence and hyperconnectivity on the human condition. Sculpted from a single larch monolith, the work connects the tradition of wooden sculpture with the language of digital culture, evoking the delicate balance between technology, spirituality, and identity.

Ayala Ibragimova 's The Flesh of the World , on the other hand, addresses the theme of feminine energy as an ancestral force deeply connected to the earth, its cycles, and collective memory. The mosaic surface progressively evolves from a rigorous composition to a vibrant and irregular material, transforming the changing form into a metaphor for the continuity of life and natural balance.

With Incontro , Angela Moro reflects on the value of equality through a functional sculpture that doubles as a bench. Two figures, male and female, jointly support the structure without one overwhelming the other: stability comes from the shared weight, transforming a simple piece of furniture into a metaphor for respect, responsibility, and mutual care.
The relationship with the sea finds expression in Hippocampus , by Paolo Del Mul , made of driftwood and iron. The seahorse, a symbol of strength, mystery, and prosperity, takes shape thanks to materials returned from the sea, giving rise to a work that speaks of recovery, transformation, and the fragility of ecosystems.

The exhibition closes with Bright Eyes , by Dutch artist Jeanine Gerlofsma . A motionless hare, isolated on a concrete island while sea levels continue to rise, becomes a symbol of nature's vulnerability to climate change. The fragments of objects and materials incorporated into the base transform the sculpture into a "fossil of the present," a testament to human impact on the environment and a warning to future generations.

A place to live
Granelli d'Arte is not conceived as an exhibition space to be passively observed, but as a place to pass through and experience.
The program is enriched by workshops, experiential activities, and initiatives aimed at adults, children, and families, developed together with the Menti Libere association.
The works thus become starting points for shared experiences that combine creativity, environmental education, and participation, offering new tools for interpreting the landscape and strengthening the bond between community, territory, and culture.

A look to the future
Granelli d'Arte was born with a long-term vision. The five works represent the first nucleus of a collection destined to grow over the years, through the involvement of new Italian and international artists.

The goal is to gradually transform the Bibione Pineda pine forest into a true open-air art gallery, capable of combining artistic research, environmental sustainability, and local development.
The journey will culminate in 2028 with the launch of an international contest dedicated to contemporary artists, opening the project to new visions and languages.

At a time when the landscape often risks becoming mere backdrop, Granelli d'Arte offers a different perspective: that of a place where art and nature meet, listen to each other, and grow together, generating beauty, awareness, and new possibilities for dialogue.
